EXPECTATIONS
Instead of looking for needles in a haystack, new technologies should help us detect/prioritize companies that have consulting needs
Our challenge: expand our prospect base, build more qualified contacts, and engage them with compelling messaging and strong hooks
When it comes to sales prospecting, let's be clear, we don't do it well; we need to better structure our methods and, above all, actively manage the account plans that have been defined
The biggest difficulty is proactivity: if we are approached about a project we weren't already aware of, we will take on a scouting role; we have to get involved early, identify and even create opportunities before the calls for tenders.
CONCERNS
Our CRM and digital marketing tools are anything but effective… too complex… the information is untapped and/or unusable because it is not aligned with the needs of the consulting business… a lot of money for very limited return
We, the "Consultants", were selected based on our technical and/or interpersonal skills; we do not naturally possess the know-how of Business Developers
“Historically, we had a few key relationships with a few major accounts… and that was enough to keep the business going; clearly, given the competition, this business development model no longer works”
EXPECTATIONS
Consultants are gradually becoming passive and no longer even read what has been produced by LLMs: AI tools should raise the bar—not lower it by encouraging average work
We reinvent the wheel with every proposal; we need to capitalize much better on our best assets, particularly our offers, our approaches, and our references
The most senior consultants are under intense pressure: they must know how to delegate and move beyond their traditional role as "producers" to become "reviewers"...
How to integrate / attract / train juniors & seniors who are essential for the future of our business (without "young people" there is no refreshing the talent pyramid) and to maintain our profitability?
CONCERNS
Everyone uses AI however they see fit, with different tools and methodologies. This lack of control is a long-term threat to the firm
LLMs such as ChatGPT have added to the workload of managers and subject matter experts. They certainly produce more output, but ultimately I don't see any meaningful impact on our collective performance
Are we not developing dependencies on certain tools/companies (OpenAI, …) which, in the long run, could become a risk?
AI encourages individualism and creates a sense of "superpowers." The real risk is that it will undermine the firm's methodologies and best practices
The use of AI must not put the company's key data/information at risk
